The UC Davis Men's Crew is a club sport at UC Davis in California, which means we receive very little financial support from the University.  Student athletes must pay dues and manage all club operations themselves.  This is a great life experience for the students yet the dues often make it impossible for some students to participate.  The Club also struggles each year to fund the cost of an expensive sport where boats cost of $50,000 each.  Crew athletes are pushed every practice in a way that few sports do.  The sport also demands a high level of cooperation and teamwork as everyone must literally be in synch and working together.  As a result, crew athletes develop a confidence and inner strength that benefit them in their schoolwork and all through their careers after college.  

The Friends of Davis Rowing, Inc. is comprised of alumni who have benefited from their participation on the team and wish that as many students as possible can enjoy the same benefit in the future.
