The mission of Forever Home Donkey Rescue & Sanctuary is to help donkeys in need of rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming. We focus on providing education and protection from animal cruelty, abuse, and neglect as well as a sanctuary for donkeys that need a forever home.

We are an All Volunteer 501 (c)(3) Non Profit We currently have 30 donkeys and 1 mule in the sanctuary.  Some have been here as long as 20 years with us providing care to them for the rest of their lives.

Rescue/Rehome - We take in unwanted, abused, or surrendered donkeys. We measure their medical needs and if adoptable we find suitable loving homes for them. If medical care is needed we provide the care and those donkeys live their lives here at our rescue. When we are at capacity, we continue to help those donkeys and owners in need and network to find good homes for their donkeys or proper medical care if needed. We currently have 29 donkeys in the sanctuary and only 1 adoptable. 

Transportation/Medical Care - we provide transportation for those donkey owners who do not have trailers to haul their animals. This transportation cost is covered by our rescue. Most transportation is for rehoming or the owners are moving. Medical Care for euthanasia or geldings is needed greatly. Many owners do not have funds for this type of medical care and the donkey suffers. Ungelded donkeys are dangerous and more prone to either hurt someone or be abused because of their behavior. Gelding calms the Jack down so more adoptable.  Education/Therapy/Sports- Our Education program is one of our main priorities. We pride ourselves on giving free tours of our rescue so that anyone from anywhere can visit without the worry of cost.  We are currently working with others to promote Packburro racing an event where someone can run alongside the donkey on trails. Our goal with events (festivals, nursing home visits, Boy and Girl Scout events), parades, hikes and pack burro racing is to get people interested in donkeys, teach care, and provide therapy opportunities.
