Ferrell Hollow Farm has a unique, dual-purpose mission which provides long-term Sanctuary care to senior horses over the age of 20, as well as geriatric cats over age 15 with multiple health issues.

 Our Middle Tennessee Senior Horse Sanctuary provides retirement care to senior horses, many of which are of the heavy draft horse breeds, who require more care than an average sized horse. They have suffered abuse, neglect or starvation in their former lives, often ending up in kill auctions.

When they come into our program, we are committed to caring for their every need: nutritional, emotional, physical, hoof, veterinary, and dental care for the remainder of their lives. We have rescued many neglected senior Draft horses destined for slaughter and rehabilitated them back to health and have helped many senior horses of all breeds in our Senior Horse Sanctuary since 2000.

 In 2017 Ferrell Hollow Farm added a Senior Cat Sanctuary program which focuses on rescuing cats over the age of 15 who are in local shelters or surrendered by owners no longer able to care for them. Through no fault of their own they find themselves in unfortunate situations facing abandonment or euthanasia and often have medical needs that require constant attention. We give them a safe place to live out their days where their issues can be addressed. Offering sanctuary care to senior cats allows us to work with yet another population that is often overlooked, rarely adopted and at risk of euthanasia in shelters. We have helped many senior cats since our inception in 2017.

 Currently, we care for 7 senior horses and 15 senior cats and operate both facets of our Sanctuary in Rutherford County, TN. Founder, Cindy Myers oversees all aspects of both the Horse and Cat Sanctuary daily, striving to always give the residents exceptional quality end-of-life care.
