Engler Canyon Ranch is a forever sanctuary for America’s wild mustangs, with a special focus on seniors, those with behavioral or temperament concerns, and those deemed “unsafe” for domestication. Many of our residents have endured trauma, neglect, or abuse before finding their way here. At our sanctuary, they are given safety, autonomy, and the freedom to live as naturally as possible.

Our 230+ mustangs and burros roam several thousand acres in a rewilded but supported herd. We provide supplemental care and veterinary oversight, while allowing them to live an essentially hands-free life, free from the stresses of humans and captivity. Out of respect for their wild nature and traumatic pasts, we keep human interactions low, allowing them to decompress and learn to trust on their own time.

Beyond sanctuary, we work to educate the public about the challenges mustangs face, promote responsible rescue practices, and advocate for solutions that prioritize the lifelong well-being of these incredible animals.
