Emergency Medicine Foundation Ltd
About us
This year, nearly eight million Australians will visit an emergency department. That's about one in three people. Our emergency professionals – doctors, paramedics, nurses and allied health – are at the front line providing critical lifesaving medial care. They also know the gaps and exactly where better treatments and services could help save more lives. The Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) is an Australian not for profit organisation, which funds emergency and acute care research. In the last 10 years, we've invested more than $16 million in research grants and research support services. This research is changing the way Australian hospitals and paramedics treat babies with chest infections, adults with chest pain, trauma victims and the elderly. It's also led to a tool to predict patient numbers, which is being used by hospitals internationally. Our researchers are also working on better ways to care for patients suffering from wide ranging diseases and issues such as sepsis, domestic violence, mental health, snake bite, drug addiction and overdoses as well as Indigenous health. With your help, we can fund more research. We can save more Australian lives.
