El Ayudante means “the helper.”  EA is a Christian humanitarian organization based in León, Nicaragua with administrative offices in Jackson, Tennessee.  Our entire staff in Nicaragua, are local citizens.  Our only paid staff in the United States is our part-time bookkeeper.  Our mission is dedicated to partnering with the Nicaraguan people to transform the nation—One child, One family, One community at a time.  Our goal is to bring tangible, holistic change to children and their families in the areas of spirituality, education, physical and mental health, while also meeting their needs for nutritious food, clean water, and basic / sanitary housing.

All the children served by El  Ayudante (EA) live in “at risk” family situations.  Most would not be successful in school without the support of the EA sponsorship program that provides nutritious meals, tutoring and psychological support.  The Nicaraguan government requires children to live at home, but our children attend EA five days a week from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Our impact is proven by an 83% program graduation rate compared to the national average of less than 40% in Nicaragua.
