DBMS is a non-profit organization founded in 1997 by a group of locals who had the vision to turn the last remaining waterfront property in Duxbury into a community maritime school that provides safe and enriching programs and access to Duxbury Bay for all. Going into its twenty-eighth year, DBMS has become a model for other community maritime schools as it continues to focus on transformative experiences on the water through educational and recreational programs. The school offers year-round programming in sailing, rowing, marine science, and paddlesports, and is proudly home to a robust accessible and adaptive sailing and paddlesports program. Our mission statement is “to connect people of all ages, abilities and means to Duxbury Bay through educational and recreational programs that stimulate individual growth and an enduring love and appreciation of the sea.”
