The mission of Dress for Success Houston (DFSH) is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help women thrive in work and life. We strive to provide our clients with life-changing resources to achieve a new start and long-term employment and success - ultimately building skilled leaders in our community.As an agency built on resiliency, we know the critical need to provide immediate support and resources to women and families who are rebuilding and recovering. With unemployment rates continuing to rise, 75% of DFSH clients' jobs have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As of March 16, 2020, DFSH transitioned our programs virtually with contactless support initiatives. We have provided more than 500 women with 4,000 units of service, including scrubs and uniforms to essential workers, curbside suiting to 160 women, more than 50 virtual workshops, 600 face masks, 100 backpacks with school supplies to children of our PWG members, COVID-19 resource guides to 720 women and more than 650 outreach calls. Due to the pandemic, 48% of our women and their families now face food insecurity. This fall, we began addressing this need by offering meal kits and grocery essentials to members of our Professional Women’s Group (PWG) and their families. To date, 600 meal kits and 196 grocery essentials packs have been distributed to over 150 women and their families.
