The Detroit Writers Guild is a 45-year-old grassroots-initiated writers group. We sponsor the All Access Cafe, which features writers and musicians with disabilities, the Poets & Pies Series at the Detroit Public Library, Annual Literary Walks in Downtown Detroit and St. Clair Shores, and monthly free and open workshops for writers of all levels. All Michigan grant & Humanities money has evaporated since January 20, 2025. I have run these programs on a show string budget of $3000-$5000 annually. We are in need of a respectable funding to further grow this organization.
