Democracy in Colour is one of a kind. An independent, member-driven movement by and for people of colour, with a strong track record of real wins. To stay independent and responsive to the needs of the people and communities in our movement, we’re funded by people like you. We’re building the power of people of colour to organise around the issues that affect us most. We’re for migration with dignity, great public and community services, and for a media and political landscape free of racialised hate speech. We work in two ways:- Run community organising campaigns with cutting-edge digital tools to empower people of colour to impact issue debates, communities, corporations, politicians, policies and the cultural zeitgeist. - Provide training programs to equip a new generation of leaders of colour with the skills to change hearts, minds, public policy, and corporate behaviour.We take a systems approach - where issues of racism in Australia are heavily connected to issues of economic, gender and disability justice. Therefore, Democracy in Colour believes if we build community power and leadership, direct this power into campaigns for policy and narrative change, we will shift decision makers to abolish the racist systems that oppress racialised people.
