Deaf and Hear Alberta is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the accessibility, advocacy, education and communication needs of the Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing populations of Alberta. Our head office is in Calgary, Alberta, with a branch office in Edmonton. Our expertise lies in communication access -- through American Sign Language interpreting, assistive and safety equipment, training and education for hearing loss prevention and management, and strengthening public awareness and understanding. Our programs include virtual and in-person ASL interpretation; equipment and accessibility consultations and audits for individuals and businesses, ASL classes, lip reading classes, peer mentoring and support, student literacy programs, Step Ahead program (linking volunteers with seniors to help them use technology to communicate).
