Darling Range Wildlife Shelter
About us
DRWS is a not for profit organisation run and managed by a community of volunteers who give over 40 000 unpaid hours each year. Our purpose is to rehabilitate native wildlife and promote the value of biodiversity through education and example. Our volunteers strongly believe that 'every critter counts' and treat and provide care for every species as equals. DRWS is well acquainted with the impact of urbanisation and human development on the environment and wildlife, aiming to minimise its environmental footprint. The facility is solar powered, toilets are composting, grey water reuse and rainwater collection systems are in place. Members promote the preservation of our natural environment and living considerately with wildlife. We encourage volunteering, support student placements, attend schools and community events as opportunities for public education.
