About us

Concern Australia’s vision is to see an Australia where vulnerable young people and children have HOPE for a successful and positive life. Our mission is to work in partnership with young people and children, aged 5-25, creating opportunities for them to enjoy full and meaningful lives. With a dedicated team of 31 staff and 41 volunteers, Concern Australia connects with 30,000 vulnerable young people and children Australia wide, through six innovative programs focused on Education, Housing and Homelessness, and Justice. Concern Australia’s unique approach makes a difference. We create a supportive community around vulnerable young people and children to ensure they are protected and supported. We equip them with skills and tools, creating opportunities that give them the best chance in life and help them realise their potential and worth. Our programs focus on assisting children and young people to overcome barriers that inhibit them from achieving their potential. Our programs fit under three key areas: 1. Education a) Hand Brake Turn: providing young people with life and technical skills and qualifications in automotive repair while also developing new pathways for their education, wellbeing and employment. b) LiveWires: providing children with after school and holiday care who live in public housing. c) Values for Life: providing seminars for primary and secondary students on topics such as cyber bullying, resilience, leadership, identity and drug education. 2. Housing & Homelessness a) Inside Out and Support Services: supporting young people (16-19 years) in Child Protection and the Youth Justice system to transition towards independent living. b) Steps Outreach Service: providing practical and relational support to young people experiencing homelessness. 3. Justice: a) Chaplaincy: offering pastoral care to young males (17-21 years) in the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre.
