Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center (CTRC) was founded in 1980 with just three riders, a small yet dedicated group of volunteers, a few borrowed horses and a dream. Forty-three years later we are one of the top therapeutic riding centers in the nation, maintaining our Premier Certification from the worldwide governing body of therapeutic riding centers, PATH International since 1982. Our mission is to change the lives of people with disabilities by promoting their physical, psychological, and social well-being through equine-assisted activities. Our ever-expanding facility boasts over 26+ equine therapists, a full-time staff of 6, a part-time staff of 5, and over 800+ committed volunteers who keep our programs running each and every day. We currently provide services to over 450+ riders each year through our five core programs: Therapeutic Riding, Equine Assisted Therapy, Equine Assisted Mental Health, Instructor in Training and Retired Horse Sanctuary, with a wait list of over 200+ more, for our programs. From the inception of our organization, changing lives has been our top priority. We serve children and adults living with physical, emotional, and mental disabilities and their families.
