Let’s Build A Playground Together! Children R Our Future of Volusia County, Inc. is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to assist children and families in Volusia and Flagler Counties that face the challenges of a severe medical condition or that have been through a life changing tragedy. Founded in 2016, Children R Our Future was born from her passion (affectionately known as “Mama C” to many in the community) continued to assist children in our community after her retirement from the Florida Department of Children and Families where she worked as a public servant for 17 years. On a daily basis throughout her career she listened & cared for abandoned, abused & neglected children as well as consoling their families, in her office. One important observation, “special needs “children were not given as much love and attention as an everyday normal healthy child. Before retirement she formed Children R Our Future Of Volusia County Inc. Her focus was to advocate and help change special needs to address them as Special Kind Of Perfect Children. The adventure began with visiting parks around Volusia County. Handicapped play needed an upgrade. The Special Kind of Perfect Playgrounds mission/vision began with a little girl 6 years old, Zoe Adams. Children R Our Future met with her family (2016) learned all about an incurable disease Sanfilippo Syndrome. Zoe taught me to understand her Together, we can impact the lives of children in need.
