C.A.P.S is a local non-profit organisation dedicated to caring for homeless, abandoned, and unwanted dogs in Weipa and the surrounding areas. Our work goes beyond rescue. We are building a more compassionate community by promoting responsible pet ownership, de-sexing, and education around animal welfare. Our mission is to provide these dogs with a safe, temporary refuge while we work toward finding them loving, permanent homes. As the only animal refuge in the region, C.A.P.S plays a vital role in supporting our community by rescuing dogs from the streets and giving them a second chance at life. Through proper care, rehabilitation, and de-sexing, we help rehome healthy, happy dogs back into the community. Beyond rescue and rehoming, together, we can improve the lives of dogs and strengthen our community, by educating the public on best practices in animal welfare.
