Greener Pastures: BC Standardbred Horse Adoption Society has been a registered non-profit since 2003. Since its origin, Greener Pastures has taken in horses after retiring from harness racing- anywhere from 20-60 horses each year are donated to the program and adopted to new homes. Greener Pastures works closely with race horse owners and trainers who choose to donate their horse to the program to start a new career after racing. Upon arrival to the program, horses are assessed and begin their transition to a life under saddle. While in training prior to their adoption, volunteers work hard to show off the breeds versatility as desirable riding horses. Greener Pastures also assists with Standardbreds in need, even long after their racing careers (or if they've never raced). A safety net for a wonderful breed- this organization will always do their best to provide help or solutions to Standardbreds in BC and beyond. Greener Pastures is volunteer run and relies solely on donations and monies raised through grants and fundraisers. Please consider supporting and assisting Standardbreds in BC.
