Nearly nine out of every 10 children in Sub-Saharan Africa cannot read and understand a simple text by the age of 10, and approximately 202 million of Sub-Saharan Africa’s school-aged children cannot read, write, or perform basic math. Without these foundational skills, learners are more likely to drop out of school, impeding academic success and limiting prospects for future employment.To combat these challenges, Building Tomorrow equips Community Education Teams to support education in rural, underserved areas. Through this model, we have reached some 375,000 learners with our signature Roots to Rise foundational literacy and numeracy camps, cutting learning poverty for more than three-quarters of our learners. With your support, Building Tomorrow can continue our work for our goal of literacy and numeracy for all children, reaching five million children by 2033.
