For over 40 years, the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League has been helping manage the homeless pet population in Southwest Mississippi. However, in the last decade, BARL has really made strides in this mission. Our volunteer-led organization touches the lives of 1500 – 2000 pets each year. Whether through transport programs, adoption efforts or community spay/neuter programs, we are making a difference. 

We do not receive government funding and are dependent on donations. We have come to garner valuable community support, but there is still so much needed to bring this overpopulation issue to a truly manageable situation. It’s a society issue that so many overlook. Small groups and the shelters they manage need support to grow their efforts.
