For more than 45 years, the Bay Area Crisis Nursery (BACN) has helped families through some of life's most difficult moments with one goal: keeping children safe and families together.

BACN is the only crisis nursery in the San Francisco Bay Area. Located in Concord, California, our Nursery is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing a safe, nurturing place for children birth through age five when their parents are experiencing stress or crisis.

But today, BACN is much more than a safe place for children to stay.

Families can turn to BACN for free Crisis and Respite Care, Emergency Childcare, Family Resource Navigation, food and diapers, fresh produce, clothing and children's essentials through the BACN Boutique, and seasonal support such as backpacks, holiday meals, toys, and birthday gifts.

A parent may come to us because they are facing homelessness, domestic violence, a medical or mental health crisis, loss of childcare, financial hardship, or simply because they are overwhelmed and need a break. We meet families where they are, without judgment and without financial barriers.

Our Crisis and Respite Care gives parents time to address a crisis, attend appointments, rest, work toward stability, or simply recharge while knowing their children are safe and loved. Emergency Childcare provides free daily care when families have nowhere else to turn. Our Family Resource Navigator works alongside parents to identify their goals, connect them with community resources, and address the challenges affecting their family's stability.

We also help families meet their most basic needs. Through our Food and Diaper Bank, weekly Fresh Produce Market, BACN Boutique, and Community Giving programs, thousands of families receive food, diapers, clothing, children's essentials, and other critical support throughout the year.

All BACN services are free, voluntary, and designed to make asking for help easier, not harder.
