Australian Working Dog Rescue Int
About us
Australian Working Dog Rescue is a non profit charitable institution whose primary function is to save working dog breeds from being euthanased in council pounds and shelters and find new homes for them. We cover the entire continent of Australia which encompasses Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory.Australian Working Dog Rescue does not breed dogs and we do not sell dogs. We have an adoption process in place whereby all potential owners go through a screening process to ensure the future safety and well being of our animals. Our adoption procedures are very simple with some basic requirements to meet the needs of the dogs. Among the basic requirements your home must have adequate fencing and adequate shelter for your proposed pet. Our adoption process also includes a home check which is as much about meeting you as it is seeing that your yard(s) meet the needs of the dog. Responsible pet ownership is a matter of utmost importance and we promote it at all times.
Each mature dog is available for a fee of $550 which ensures you receive a dog that is desexed, microchipped, C5 (minimum) vaccinated and commenced on a monthly regime of parasite prevention. Puppies are $650. This covers microchipping, first vaccination and desexing at an AWDRI approved vet. Other puppy vaccinations required after adoption are at the adopter’s expense. Senior dogs of 8-10 years are $300 while dogs older are generally adopted out and a donation requested that the adopting person(s) can afford, or are willing to give if they so wish (ideally $100 or above).AWDRI holds Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status within Australia and so all donations made over $2.00 AUD are tax deductible within Australia.
