Animal Rights and Rescue Group (ARRG) was the first non-kill animal welfare/rescue organisation to start up in Australia. We operate an animal centre open to the public daily Monday to Friday 9am – 3pm. The organisation was founded in 1995 and is a self-funded No-Kill private registered charity. The Animal Centre in South Lismore is manned by one full time paid person who is the Centre and Administration manager and is supported by a small team of volunteers who assist in the office, attend to the animal’s needs and maintenance of the grounds on a daily basis 7 days a week. ARRG is very committed to saving abandoned, abused and unwanted animals directly from their owners or from the Council pound when the animals time is up and we give them a 2nd chance. A large and VITAL part of our work is the wide range of help and support we provide people with pets during times of crisis, domestic violence, family breakdown, homelessness, financial, health, mental health, rehab, jail, for these people faced with leaving their pet behind without care is impossible and adds to the trauma. We are regularly called by the local agencies that need immediate help for their client’s pet/s during emergencies and they rely on ARRG for a solution and care.
