Pro Football Hall of Famer and venture capitalist investor Ronnie Lott, and his wife Karen, founded All Stars Helping Kids 30 years ago, modeling his philanthropic efforts on the lessons learned playing football and investing in technology starts-up. What we are doing today to end child poverty is not working. All Stars provides a new and innovative approach. Much like how venture capitalists invest in startups, All Stars acts as a "venture capitalist" by investing in emerging nonprofits to scale programs that provide youth – particularly youth of color – in low-income and marginalized communities with access to quality education, career readiness skills and resources, and health & wellness programs. The All Stars Accelerator Program is 3-year intensive capacity building program designed to provide a holistic framework to drive sustainability and impact of community-based nonprofits focused on uplifting youth through cash grants, capacity building training, coaching, and connections to emerging nonprofits with limited staff capacity, infrastructure, and financial resources. In addition, they are working in communities that are underserved, marginalized, and disproportionally adversely affected by systemic racial inequalities. All Stars Helping Kids is deeply committed and partnering with marginalized communities, women, communities of color (Black, African American, Latino, Asian) and undocumented, differently-abled, LGBTQ+ youth, and indigenous populations. Since joining All Stars Accelerator Program in our portfolio of grantees have: Increased revenue by 290%, Grew programs and services by 214%, and created 302 new, local staff positions. Grantees reached more than 51,293 youth in 2019. Investing in All Stars changes lives and moves youth out of poverty once and for all.
