About us
The Alabama Instructional Design Network (AIDN) exists to bring networking, mentoring, and resource opportunities to instructional designers across the state of Alabama and beyond. With members across the United States as well as in other countries, AIDN facilitates collaboration among designers in many areas, professionally and geographically.
As the demand for online learning opportunities increases, so does the need for excellence in course design. AIDN provides educational and networking opportunities for instructional designers, promoting best practices in online course design, awareness of the importance of meeting accessibility standards without sacrificing design, and providing opportunities for learners outside the traditional scope of face-to-face learning. Online learning platforms expand the educational reach and potential to learners who previously had little or no access to such content.
Appropriate, accessible design is the catalyst for promoting universal access to learning opportunities across many subject areas, cultures, educational levels, and diverse socio-economic groups. Educational opportunities level the playing field for all, and excellence in design facilitates the online learning experience.
AIDN uses our funds for collaborative events for instructional designers and for professional development opportunities, including featured speakers and networking events.
