Our vision is to directly impact the age-old cycle of poverty in rural, southwestern Kenya by educating and equipping thousands of extremely poor (primarily orphaned) children, launching them into prosperous lives that positively impact their communities and the region as a whole. In the process, we are changing the face of primary education in Kenya through academic excellence, through our example of loving, respectful, faith-motivated faculty and well-behaved students, and through our emphasis on community health, and in particular, feminine hygiene. Our 2 primaries have over 500 students, our middle school about 120 and we support almost 250 in local high schools. Local teachers’ colleges, education ministry personnel and area headmasters have visited Achungo to learn from our methods—administrative and academic. The U.S. organization funds and guide Achungo Children’s Center (ACC) located in southwest Kenya. ACC is dedicated to transforming the lives of orphaned and destitute children, by providing food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and education, giving them hope and a future, and instilling in them integrity and responsibility through training in ethical values.
