About us

Youth At Heart is dedicated to providing expanded learning opportunities that foster character development, instill core values, and equip students for lifelong success. Through our no-cost Afterschool and Summer Enrichment Programs, we create a safe, engaging, and academically enriching environment that nurtures whole-child development.

Structured programming is essential during after school hours, a time when youth are most vulnerable to engaging in risky behaviors. Similarly, summer months often lead to academic regression, particularly for students from underprivileged backgrounds. YAH’s programs counteract these challenges by providing year-round support that keeps students engaged and on track for success. Our curriculum integrates academic enrichment with sports, offering a holistic approach to youth development. Program components include:
  • S.T.E.A.M. education – Hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
  • Tutoring & homework help – Academic support tailored to individual student needs.
  • Social-emotional learning (SEL) – Programs that build resilience, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.
  • Health & nutrition education – Promoting healthy lifestyles and physical activity.
  • Field trips & experiential learning – Exposure to cultural, educational, and career-oriented experiences.
YAH primarily serves students from Title I, low-performing schools in under-resourced communities. According to the 2023-2024 Oklahoma School Report Cards, the schools we support have consistently received low ratings: MacArthur (D), McClure (F), Whitman (F), and Hale Middle School (F). Demographic data highlights the significant needs of our participants:
  • 100% of families qualify as economically disadvantaged, based on free/reduced lunch eligibility.
  • 80%+ of students identify as racial or ethnic minorities.
  • 20%+ of students are English language learners.
  • 20% of students face situational homelessness, as estimated by school administrators.
Through comprehensive programming, YAH empowers youth with essential tools and opportunities to break barriers, fostering brighter futures.
