Established in 2000, YACC's mission is to support young adults living with, through and beyond cancer. The organization is focused on lightening the emotional load and providing tools for improved mental health for thousands of young adults living with cancer in Canada who are suffering in isolation. YACC is the connection to peers, the bridge out of isolation and source of inspiration; every cancer, every stage, YACC’s got their back. Young adults diagnosed with cancer are finishing their education, starting careers, building new homes, planning marriages, having children. Cancer impacts every area of life; chemo and breastfeeding are not a good match, down payments become medical expenses, degrees become daydreams. Research supports that these challenges often have greater effect on mental health than the cancer itself. YACC is there everyday offering supportive tools and connections our young adults need to better cope with all that comes with a cancer diagnosis during this important stage of life. There are over 8,000 young adults diagnosed with cancer each year in Canada and more than 200,000 Canadians living with, through and beyond cancer as a young adult. Cancer is different for people in their late teens, 20s, and 30s. This truth is the driving force behind YACC's mission. Young adults are the building blocks of tomorrow's community. Your support ensures YACC can continue to have the backs of 1000's of young adults living with, through and beyond cancer.
