The Shepherd’s Heart is a volunteer‑driven, faith‑based food pantry committed to feeding, clothing, empowering, and advocating for families in need throughout Central Texas. Each day we receive and process food from local partners to prepare for our daily distributions, relying on volunteers Monday through Friday to ensure thousands of families have access to healthy food and improved quality of life.

With Waco’s poverty rate at twice the national average, we focus our efforts where the need is greatest. Shepherd’s Heart operates 18+ mobile food distributions each month in local food‑desert communities, a Bellmead pantry open three days a week, and school‑based pantries in seven campuses. We also deliver groceries to over 1,100 homebound seniors twice a month, all through volunteer support.

We partner with churches, schools, and medical providers—including a Food Rx pilot with Waco Family Medicine—to address both hunger and the root causes of poverty. As the largest faith‑based 501(c)(3) food pantry in Central Texas, we serve about 7,000 families each month, distributing more than 300,000 pounds of food.

Guided by Psalm 82:3–4, we work to defend and support the poor and vulnerable. Cash donations stretch the farthest—$50 feeds families—and food drives led by workplaces, schools, and churches remain vital. Hunger is often invisible, but together we can feed the hungry now while helping families move toward long‑term stability and hope.
