Voters For Animal Rights (VFAR) is a nonpartisan, 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization building political power for animals in New York through lobbying, legislative advocacy, and electoral engagement. VFAR mobilizes voters, advocates directly with lawmakers, and works to advance and pass policies that protect animals from cruelty and exploitation. Since its founding, VFAR has helped secure landmark victories for animals in New York, including bans on foie gras sales, wild animal circus performances, and wildlife killing contests, as well as a prohibition on the retail sale of dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Voters For Animal Rights also secured $500,000 in the NYC Council FY2026 budget for spay and neuter services—for the first time ever.
