Vineyard 2nd Generation is a bilingual, bicultural childcare facility that strives to end language deprivation by providing linguistically accessible care. Language deprivation occurs when a child has inadequate exposure and access to language during the critical period between birth and age five. Research shows that nearly 70% of Deaf/hard of hearing children don't have access to language. It is our mission to begin closing this language gap. Our students are immersed in American Sign Language and Deaf culture, which both creates an accessible environment for our Deaf students and exposes our hearing students to language and culture. We are working diligently to increase community knowledge of Deafness, Deaf culture, and American Sign Language by fostering connection between the Deaf and hearing communities.
