Help us restore the honeybee population and provide shelter for livestock to small farmers and homesteaders in Western North Carolina. United Carolinas Cavalry is a nonprofit focused on emergency and long-term disaster relief. In the 10 days after Hurricane Helene made landfall, we delivered over 342,225 pounds of critical supplies by air and nearly 3 million pounds by land to our neighbors in Appalachia. This undertaking was recognized as the largest civilian aircraft disaster relief effort in United States history. Since that time, we have provided campers to families in need of housing during their home rebuild process, propane during the winter months, and toys for children over the holidays. One of our current initiatives is an Agricultural & Apiary Rebuild. Small farmers and homesteaders make up the backbone of Western North Carolina, and although the storm caused severe erosion to their farmland and wiped out their honeybee hives and livestock shelters, most of them were denied FEMA assistance or homeowners’ insurance relief. We are focused on restoring these farmers’ beekeeping operations, constructing shelters for livestock and restoring eroded farmland. Help us help our farmers before the winter months!
