The Birchtree Center transforms the lives of children and youth with autism in northern New England. Twenty-eight public school districts rely on Birchtree’s autism expertise, sending students to Birchtree’s day school and/or bringing Birchtree experts into their public schools. Birchtree serves 500+ individuals last year, including students with autism, the parents and families of those students, and public-school staff members serving those students. Birchtree’s autism experts travel 30,000+ miles per year to help students with autism to succeed in their local public schools and communities. For students who need even more intensive support, Birchtree’s day school in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is the only school in New Hampshire that serves students with autism exclusively. It’s staffed by autism experts who are known for their ability to help students with significant behavior and communication challenges. Students travel up to 80 minutes each way every day to attend this individualized, year-round program.
