Support The Enlisted Project (STEP) serves enlisted service members (E1-E6) ranks, transitioning Veterans, and their families across Southern California. Our unique Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) program combines financial counseling and financial assistance. Our professional Social Workers, who are Certified Personal Financial Counselors, work one-on-one with each client family to establish goals and create a personalized financial plan. Financial assistance is provided to maintain critical basic needs, such as housing, utilities, and food. Assistance is always provided in the form of a grant, never a loan. A young Navy family recently came to STEP in their time of need. An expensive car repair caused them to fall behind on other bills. They worked with a STEP Social Worker to create a realistic financial plan. STEP provided grocery gift cards and diapers to help them get through the month. We were also able to assist the Sailor’s spouse with essential dental work, covering the bill in full. “I never would have been able to complete all the dental work needed and I am so excited to be able to eat again.
