About us
Southside aims to ensure that children, young people and adults with multiple and complex difficulties across Bath and North East Somerset access the care and support that they need, so that vulnerable families enjoy the safety, experiences and opportunities they deserve.
Southside has a strong track record over 25 years supporting thousands of vulnerable children, adults and families who have experienced trauma through violence, abuse and neglect, helping them to find safety and build resilience, wellbeing, relationships, connections and their sense of identity and belonging.
Southside provides whole family support, domestic abuse crisis support and advocacy to meet the needs of children, young people and adults throughout our communities in Bath and North East Somerset. We also provide counselling, coaching, community hub groups, volunteering programmes, and work closely with other local charities/agencies. Our work is trauma-informed and therapeutically focused, with deep roots in our local communities and lived experience at the heart of our work.
Our Community Hub Groups, bringing together families after school in the heart of their local communities, hidden pockets of deprivation and/or isolated rural areas. Many of these families are dealing with multiple and complex difficulties, including domestic abuse, trauma, mental health issues, special educational needs, and other challenges including school refusal. Families come together in the groups to connect, children and young people enjoy indoor and outdoor play, creative activities and nutritious meals together at the end of each session, enabling the families to enjoy eating together and go home well fed and having connected with lots of other families and our team.
