Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation (STEF) provides free veterinary care to elephants ensuring they live without pain and suffering. Our specialist vet team is based at our elephant hospital near Khok Kloi, Phang Nga Province. We also operate a mobile veterinary clinic so our vets can reach sick or injured elephants even in the most remote areas of Southern Thailand.

Elephant welfare in Thailand remains under the spotlight and the historical and culturally ingrained practise of deploying elephants in tourism and agriculture still goes on. These kept elephants can never be rewilded, they are far too dependent upon humans to survive. Things are changing slowly but there are animals who desperately need our help either because their owners cannot afford veterinary care or they are injured or have been mistreated. STEF is not a campaigning organisation. Instead we choose to focus on being there when the elephant needs us most. We educate and lead by example and we have helped hundreds of elephants lead healthier and happier lives. We rely entirely upon the generosity of our supporters to continue our vital work.
