About us
Southern Arizona Cat Rescue (SACR) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2019. We're a foster home based rescue with about 60 foster homes throughout Tucson, Oro Valley & Sahuarita. With more than a dozen founding members, our team is a unique crew of animal lovers from all walks of life. We are dedicated to saving the lives of Southern Arizona's at-risk cat population, including those that are abandoned, orphaned, ill, and vulnerable. With 80% of kittens born outside each year, we strive to save as many as we can and ensure mother cats are always spayed and never left behind through the practice of TNR (Trap Neuter Return) or adoption if applicable. Since we started, we have helped over 3,800 cats and kittens of various ages, health conditions, and origin scenarios. We often intake cats and kittens from the streets of Tucson, but are heavily involved with various shelters in Southern Arizona. Besides the main Tucson shelter Pima Animal Care Center, we also help those in Yuma, Bisbee, Nogales, and Pinal County. If we have the means, SACR also pulls from Phoenix and even other states in need. With our wonderful team of volunteers, outstanding veterinarians, and the support of our community, we are able to take on many medical cases, including some of the most rare or more complicated. Any contribution of support helps us to keep making a difference for even more cats and kittens in need!
