An Introduction to Shipley Center

Shipley Center is the nonprofit senior center in Sequim, WA founded in 1971 to enrich the lives of older adults through social and recreational activities. 

Shipley Center’s core values:

Friendship is first and foremost, because so many of us could really use another friend, and many friendships are made and enriched at Shipley Center. 
Recreation is next, because everyone needs to have fun times to get out of the house to travel and exercise body and mind with others.
Education rounds out Shipley’s core values because learning never ends, especially in the areas of technology and health.

Shipley Center is governed by a local, volunteer-run board of directors. Rewarding volunteer opportunities abound: serving at the front desk, teaching a class, assisting at social events, and/or serving in our non-profit café! 

Shipley Center is named after local philanthropist and businessman, the late R. Leo Shipley.

Our current campaign to “take over” the 29,000 sq ft former JCPenney as our new Center will greatly increase our capacity and is the talk of the town!
