Redding Refugee Sponsor Circle was formed in 2022 by community members of a semirural Northern California town in response to the global refugee crisis. Our mission was to assist legal immigrants from places of danger like Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Venezuela in finding a new home in our community. Since our founding, we have offered comprehensive resettlement assistance to over 25 newcomers, ranging from housing to documentation, translation, employment, education, and transportation. With the suspension of the refugee resettlement program and the suspension of TPS status for the people we mobilized to assist, we are not actively welcoming newcomers but doing our part to help those newcomers who are already here prepare their next steps.
