Project SeaWolf Coastal Protection (SCP) was founded in December 1997 to provide public stewardship for marine ecosystems and, specifically, to promote conservation initiatives to benefit the southern resident killer whale pods (J, K and L pods) living in Pacific Northwest waters. SCP assists bona fide scientific researchers engaged in gathering information for the advancement of environmental and marine wildlife/whale protection, and provides proactive ecosystem education by engaging students (including underprivileged, differentially-abled and minority groups) in marine and conservational science initiatives.
Our group’s overall objective is to enhance public stewardship of marine resources by introducing the public, through documentary films, hands-on conservation projects, public education campaigns, and legislative advocacy, to the benefits of sustainable, protected northwest whale and salmon ecosystems, and to encourage future stewardship and pro-environmental attitudes among future voters and present-day students.
Project SeaWolf Coastal Protection is an all-volunteer, I.R.S. registered 501(c) 3 non-profit organisation operating from Snohomish County, Washington. A small, grassroots environmental advocacy group founded in 1997, we are a 100%-volunteer organisation committed to applying our public support directly into the projects and initiatives that we pursue - no member of our Board nor our volunteer fleet receive any pay, nor any stipends. All of our efforts are designed to promote environmental protection or to educate students and the public about hands-on opportunities to preserve the natural ecosystem.
