About us
There is a particular kind of poverty that doesn't make headlines. It is the slow, grinding weight of structural exclusion of being born into a community where the systems that create opportunity were never designed with you in mind. In India, millions of women live inside this silence. Resourceful and determined, what they have never been given is a fair starting point.
Pollinate Group exists to change that.
Founded on the conviction that poverty is a design flaw in markets and infrastructure, Pollinate works at the intersection of economic inclusion and community development. We identify women in India's most marginalised urban and peri-urban communities and offer them a genuine pathway to a sustainable livelihood.
We call these women Suryamukhis (sunflowers) because they naturally turn toward the light the moment conditions allow them to.
Our Model
We onboard women at zero upfront cost, equipping them with a curated suite of essential clean energy products like solar lights, clean cookstoves, and water purifiers that their communities genuinely need but lack access to. They sell directly within their neighborhoods, earning income from every transaction with no middlemen, no debt traps, and no dependency on temporary aid.
The Support Ecosystem
What distinguishes Pollinate from a simple distribution model is our infrastructure of support. Every Suryamukhi receives hands-on training in sales, financial literacy, and business confidence. She joins a powerful peer network navigating the same journey and receives ongoing operational support so she never faces challenges alone.
Our Impact
To date, Pollinate has worked with over 2,000 women across India, with more than 950 currently active. Each number represents a family supported, a community strengthened, and a quiet shift in what is possible.
Our sustainable funding model blends impact investment, philanthropic grants, and product margins. We have been recognized by the BIM Sustainability Award and the IABCA Australia India Impact Awards. But the real point is the Suryamukhi who now sends her daughter to school on her own income.
We are building the conditions in which entire communities learn to thrive. We invite you to be part of it.
