Pilot Dogs was established in 1950 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is proudly located in the historic Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio.
Our mission is to provide expertly trained guide dogs, comprehensive orientation and mobility training, and other essential services—free of charge—to individuals who are blind and visually impaired. Through these life-changing programs, we inspire and empower our clients to navigate the world with greater independence, confidence, safety, and dignity.
As a 100% donor-funded organization, Pilot Dogs relies entirely on the generosity of the public. Support from donors and volunteers enables us to offer all services at no cost to those we serve, including military veterans, individuals who are legally blind, and students participating in our school resource program.
Pilot Dogs is proudly accredited by both the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) and Assistance Dogs International (ADI). These accreditations reflect our ongoing commitment to meeting—and exceeding—the highest standards in guide dog care and training, facility safety, student instruction, and the successful matching of dogs with the individuals whose lives they will transform.
