We are an intentional community of dreamers and instigators focused on seeing love, justice, hope, and beauty, and pleasure becoming a reality for the economically poor and marginalized. We do this by operating a coffee shop and day shelter called Joe’s Addiction.

We serve breakfast and lunch daily to 150-200 people. Our guests are people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental illness, and many have past felony convictions. We provide free showers and laundry service and a Free Store that distributes donated clothing to anyone who needs it. Once a week we offer a community teaching time centered around the topic of practicing nonviolence. A core service at Joe’s Addiction is connecting our clients to partnering service providers, helping them obtain birth certificates, IDs, and access to social services.

Our vision at Joe’s Addiction is to build a community where all are welcome, treated with compassion, and can come to be loved and valued. Together we are learning to love each other and practice nonviolence.
