About us
We are the Koinonia John the Baptist, an international, Spirit-led community belonging to the Catholic Church, dedicated to the work of the New Evangelization.
Our identity is rooted in the proclamation of the infinite Love of God, which is revealed through the transformative encounter with the Risen Christ. We seek to share this joy and hope with everyone.
The term Koinonia signifies community or communion. Our membership is diverse, encompassing lay persons, consecrated brothers and sisters, and priests.
The Koinonia was founded in 1979. We are structured as a worldwide federation uniting local centers of life and evangelization, referred to as Oases or Realities. We operate in regions across the globe.
Our pastoral activity is guided by three essential directives:
The direct proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ. We focus on forming effective evangelizers through our Schools of Evangelization and courses.
Promoting charismatic ministries and prayer, emphasizing openness to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We offer fervent intercessory prayer for those facing challenges, including the sick or those with professional or family difficulties.
Building authentic communities of friendship where members experience the Lord together, strengthening their spiritual bond before being sent out for mission.
We actively integrate our unique charism into the pastoral life of local churches. Our activities are designed to bring the transforming power of the Gospel to diverse groups:
Healing Ministry: We conduct large evangelization journeys and prayer meetings, often witnessing physical and spiritual healings through the power of Christ.
Formation & Education: We offer extensive spiritual education through courses, seminars, and online biblical webinars and correspondence schools. We also produce daily Gospel comments to aid daily spiritual growth.
Outreach & Welcome: We engage in direct outreach, such as ministry in prisons, and emphasize a charism of welcome and hospitality for those who are lonely or in need. We promote the value of family through workshops and support efforts for families in crisis.
We strive to be a voice crying out in the wilderness, helping others encounter the power and peace of Jesus Christ.
