The Northern California Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Foundation is a public charitable organization dedicated to helping unlock the promise in every person through programs and events that advance civil and human rights; promote social, economic, and environmental justice; support health, wellness, and preparedness; and increase the joys of learning.

Some of our major programs include:

• The MLK Celebration, whose mission is to host the Northern California region's premier MLK federal holiday celebration, through its nationally acclaimed festivals and Grammy-winning musicians and a host of service, volunteer, and social justice engagement opportunities, all free to the public.

• The Center for Social Impact, Development, and Global Engagement (The SIDGE Center) focuses on analyzing the intersection of ethics and technology that will improve equity and the performance of predictive models. The SIDGE Center’s mission is to address inequity in algorithmically driven decision-making through a renewed connection to our diverse social and human contexts.

• The International Colloquium Series (ICS) is rooted in the spirit of Dr. King, whose mission is to not only to remember, but to interrogate and expand his legacy. Through gatherings on four continents, ICS creates powerful, localized moments of global reflection by bringing people together, helping ideas cross borders, helping faith meet justice, and helping collaborations transform.
