Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger (MSAH) is a volunteer-led, nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger across Michigan by connecting hunters, wild game processors, and local food pantries.

Founded in 1991, MSAH transforms donated deer into nutritious, high-quality venison for Michigan families facing food insecurity. Through our statewide network of participating processors, donated deer are professionally processed and distributed to local food pantries, helping ensure that food harvested in Michigan benefits Michigan communities.

One donated deer can provide approximately 160 meals to neighbors in need.

Our model is simple and effective:

• Hunters donate deer to participating wild game processors.

• MSAH reimburses processors for preparing the donated venison.

• Local food pantries distribute the meat directly to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

MSAH is powered entirely by volunteers, with no paid staff. More than 90% of our funding goes directly toward processor reimbursements, allowing donor contributions to make a meaningful impact.

Our goal is to raise $350,000 annually, expanding our capacity to process approximately 3,500 donated deer and provide an estimated 140,000 pounds of nutritious venison to communities across Michigan.

Every donation helps us process more deer, support more local food pantries, and feed more Michigan families.
