The Merze Tate Explorers was founded in 2008 to honor the legacy of Dr. Vernie Merze Tate who was an international scholar, educator, and philanthropist. Tate’s world travels and work as an author, photographer, and videographer inspired reporter Sonya Bernard- Hollins to create an organization dedicated to inspiring youth through media to travel and meet phenomenal women who inspire them to dream.
