LUSH (Let Us Share the Harvest) Valley has been working since the year 2000 to strengthen the local food system in the Comox Valley. We envision a region where healthy, local food is at the heart of community wellbeing, and we aim to realize this vision through a number of food security initiatives.LUSH Valley programs include:

1. Hot Meal and Good Food Box: Providing fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as nutritious prepared meals, to families and individuals experiencing food insecurity. The majority of food is provided at highly-subsidized or no cost rates to recipients.
2. Urban Agriculture: Managing Community, School & Social Housing Gardens that aim to share knowledge and resources, promote sustainable practices and empower individuals to grow their own food.
3. Fruit Tree & Farm Gleaning: Engaging teams of volunteers to harvest excess fruit and vegetables from backyard trees, orchards and small-scale farms which is then distributed throughout the community. The harvest is divided into thirds where volunteers, homeowners and LUSH Valley programs each receive a third.
4. Healthy Student Meal Program in partnership with Comox Valley Indigenous Education: Preparing and delivering meal kits to 20 participating schools every week. Indigenous Support Workers use ingredients and recipe cards to work with students to prepare large batches of nourishing soups and stews, providing an estimated 1200 meals to Comox Valley students every operational week.
5. Young Cooks, Community Kitchens and FoodSafe Certification Courses: Providing culinary skills and food safety training to Indigenous groups, youth and adults. 
6. Comox Valley Food Policy Council: Coordinating the group that advocates for policy which supports food security, emergency planning and school food programs at regional, provincial and national levels.
