KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides guide and service dogs to clients cost-free, enhancing their independence and functioning in society. KSDS has placed 645 teams in 36 states and volunteer puppy raisers in 23 states.  Placements occur at no charge to the person receiving the dog other than the initial $25 application fee. KSDS assistance dogs are valued at $25,000 each. By those standards, KSDS has given away 16.125 million dollars in products and services since 1991.

KSDS relies on contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations, service clubs, wills, and bequests. As a 501(c)3 organization, KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc. operates entirely on donations. No tax dollars are used to support these programs. KSDS promotes the independence and inclusion of people with disabilities as fully participating and contributing members of the community
