In the heart of Chestertown, Maryland is the Cat Colloquium – a place for the community to come together in the company of cats.The Cat Colloquium is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (legal name KIT Cares, Inc.) whose mission is to create a community that advocates for animals and children in a warm, friendly, and inquisitive way. Since 2020 the Cat Colloquium has served as the permanent home to 12 resident cats, all of whom were rescued and adopted by our team. We welcome Cat Colloquium’s human visitors to enjoy a peaceful sanctuary, learn how to take care of and interact with cats, and take advantage of this space to further efforts to create community. Some examples of how we foster community are:In February of 2024 we started Cat Camp, a program we launched for adults with disabilities to provide enriching activities and an opportunity to care for our cats.We also welcome many amazing volunteers that have cared for our cats and helped keep the Cat colloquium running.At the Cat Colloquium, we are cats saving people. We have had the great pleasure to help many individuals with disabilities find solitude amongst our cat community and we hope to not only continue but expand projects like Cat Camp.The Cat Colloquium is majority funded by the generous support of our donors. 215 High Street, 2C ⧫ Chestertown, MD 21620 410.778.6369 ⧫ [email protected]   ● Teaching our community about the importance of cat care andadvocating for feline health by hosting Vet Tech Workshops that teach children in our community about cat care, including nail trimming, ear and eye care, and other general cat care.

● Providing adults with disabilities in our community opportunities to facilitate their development in a structured environment by hosting Cat Camps – hour-long sessions that engage with our cats through cat yoga, cat-themed arts and crafts, and cat care and play.
