The purpose of the Humane Society of Aransas County (HSAC) is to save the lives of dogs and cats in AransasCounty. For over 35 years, all of our resources and efforts have been solely used in Aransas County to save these pets and find them loving homes. Rescuing abandoned and stray pets is a never-ending, constant flow, but thankfully, we have been able to rescue and re-home a significant portion of these animals. To date, we have had over 7,500 adoptions! Working closely with Aransas County Animal Control, the number of animal intakes and, more importantly, the rate of euthanasia has been dramatically decreased in the county. With HSAC offering low-cost spay & neuter services, we have had a strong impact in the number of unwanted litters and therefore reduced the number of animals at Animal Control. In a 20 year period, 2002-2022, there has been a 98% reduction in euthanasia by Animal Control. In 2002, the county was euthanizing over 1,500 animals; in 2021, the last data received, the county euthanized 31 animals.
